Did You Know About the Famous Iced Coffee?

Did You Know About the Famous Iced Coffee?

Today I want to talk to you about a drink that is not the favorite of Puerto Ricans, but that is having a great boom worldwide, and even more so, in hot weather. It is a drink that when you get the taste of it, your mouth will water on a hot morning or afternoon.

Today I come to talk about the famous "Iced Coffee" and its different basic ways in which you can prepare it. The "Iced coffee" is nothing more than an extraction of black coffee served with ice. It should be noted that in this world of coffee, experimentation and creativity have no limits and are essential when it comes to doing something different and breaking with the paradigm that coffee is only drunk hot.

Now, without further ado, we leave you with two very simple recipes so you can start making your "Iced Coffee" and experiment a little.

Iced Coffee in Kalita Method

The Kalita method is a method that gives us sweetness and silkiness in the mouth. Taking these characteristics into account, we wanted to add ice to know the differences.

Recipe:

  1. 30 grams of coffee and 300 grams of water.
  2. Heat water to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Fine medium grind to lengthen the contact of water and coffee.
  4. Pour about 200 grams of ice into the Kalita container.
  5. Pre-infuse for 30 seconds.
  6. Pour up to 300 grams of water.
  7. Pour the extracted coffee into a glass with fresh ice.
  8. Enjoy!

What will you perceive in the cup?

The important thing is that you try it and you can do your analysis. In our case we could notice a much sweeter cup, low acidity and a super refreshing cup.

On the other hand, for the coffee with milk lover there is the "Iced Latte". For this cold drink, a double shot of espresso and milk is usually used.

Recipe:

1. Add fresh milk.

2. Pour a double espresso.

3. Pour cream of milk on top of the drink.

4. Place pinches of grated cocoa.

There are two details that I would like to share, one is that we prefer to heat the milk a bit in order to accentuate the sweetness in the drink. After heating the milk, there will be a cream that we will use to pour it on top of the drink. Finally, we add a few pinches of grated cocoa to flavor the drink. The second detail I want to share with you is that if you don't have an espresso machine, you can make this drink with a fretwork and heat the milk and texture it in a French press.

These are very simple recipes for you to start experimenting with cold coffee drinks. The reality is that they are super refreshing and you will love them for these hot summers.

Here are some recommendations of the coffees that we have classified as good for "Iced Coffee".

Papamín Grano Selecto: Its sweetness will be accentuated a little with the contact of the ice.

Roig: Being a dark roast, the bitterness is balanced with the ice making a much more pleasant cup. Recommended for "Iced Latte".

Perla Negra: Very good for Iced Coffee without milk. It will be a very refreshing drink and if you add a slice of lemon, even better.
